The Family Center in Gerðuberg is a governmental centre located in Breiðholt district in Reykjavík. The goal of the centre is to bring diversity and inclusion into the society so everyone feels welcomed and feel a sense of belonging in the society despite their background, ethnicity, religion and language.

My role was to create media releases and bring more diversity and inclusion into the Family Center in Gerðuberg and in Breiðholt district. I was responsible for creating media releases such as brochures, advertisements and social media releases to promote the events. Furthermore, I was also volunteering in the Ambassador project where the goal is to be the representative of people of foreign background to gather ideas to improve people's well-being in society.

Responsibilities:

  • Promoted events and created media releases in a professional way
  • Managed the organization's Facebook pages and Instagram account
  • Worked with members of senior management to present new ideas
  • Organised events at the Family Center (e.g., Homework assistance for children, Mindfulness Practice in Spanish, Ambassador project, Watercolor exhibition, Summer Writing Workshops for children, and more).
